Run Wild IPA made both of our top NA drinks of 2024 list, here’s our deep dive into Athletic’s flagship beer:

Shawn: Founded in 2017 by ultramarathon runner Bill Shufelt after he quit drinking alcohol, Athletic Brewing Company originally started with two non-alcoholic beverages sold in seven stores in New England. Now Athletic Brewing Co. can be found all over the country in most stores that carry NA beer. Now, Athletic Brewing Co. is the No. 1 non-alcoholic beer brand by sales in the U.S. and I genuinely think the Run Wild IPA is a key factor to Athletic’s success.

Eric: Yeah in fact, at least at Whole Foods, Athletic outsells all other beer, with or without alcohol. The hype around this one is real and there’s a reason why this particular IPA made it on both of our top 5 NA drinks of the year list. For me personally, it was probably the first NA beer I had in early sobriety that actually tasted like the craft brews I was used to and had assumed I would have to miss out on.

Shawn: For me, it was the first NA beer that was regularly stocked at my local convenience store, which was a game changer for my sobriety. You mean I don’t have to limit my drinking to La Croix, O’Douls and Liquid Death? Hell yeah, count me in. I love the hoppy flavor, but the convenience of it’s wide market has me hooked. Always try talking to your local bodega and see if they won’t stock this for you and others.
